Carry Protocol

Join The Offline Data Revolution

ERC20 Token

Carry makes personal data fair for consumers, marketers and merchants. Traditional brick-and-mortar retail is a $25 trillion industry, capturing at least 90% of all retail spending. This generates a lot of data. Under the Carry Protocol, your transaction data becomes a commodity you control.

CRE (pronounced “carry”) is the main token in the Carry Protocol. Consumers can use it as currency to pay merchants within the Carry ecosystem. Merchants use it to create branded tokens or smart contracts. Consumers receive CRE from 3rd party advertisers, as payment for accessing the consumers’ transaction data blockchains. And this is all achieved without lifting the veil of anonymity.

  • Merchant advantages – Accept virtual currency in brick-and-mortar shops, process payments quickly and incentivize returning customers with digital coupons and custom Branded Tokens
  • Consumer advantages – Customers own their transaction data, can anonymously monetize it and can even collect digital coupons and loyalty points. All of this is securely protected, and works seamlessly with fiat, credit or crypto payments.
  • Advertiser advantages – Advertisers can utilize consolidated offline payment data and reach their audience with no advertising fees

“It’s time for a change. Carry delivers real incentives that enable consumers, merchants and advertisers alike.”

Positives

  • Probably the biggest positive we see in Carry is their already established foundations. Operated by the co-founders of Spoqa, South Korea’s largest brick-and-mortar rewards platform, these guys already have customer-facing tablets installed in 10,000 stores across Korea. Carry will be able to run on these tablets straight away which demolishes the usual issue of “speed of deployment” that we have seen many other projects in this space suffer from. If Carry can get this technology into the hands of merchants and users as quickly as they say they can, it puts them way ahead of the rest. Huge positive.
  • Beautiful Website. Super Easy Research for Investors. Extensive Documentation Including a Full Whitepaper available in English, Korean and Chinese. A very well put together explainer video is available which does a great job of showing the concept in real world situations. Great Graphics . Well Structured and Presented. Marketing shouldn’t be an issue for Carry considering how much effort they’ve put into the promotional material.
  • Putting data back in the hands of users is a hot topic due to the general public growing more concerned about their privacy every day. Allowing users to not only anonymously monetize their data but also be rewarded for participating in the ecosystem brings a lot of incentives to the table. With Carry, the Merchant, Consumer and Advertiser all benefit. Merchants can accept CRE quickly and easily, Consumers are rewarded for everyday spending and Advertisers get the data they desperately need to accurately advertise their products and services.
  • The team here is obviously very experienced with many of the members having worked at Spoqa for several years. Grant Sohn has experience with Stanford Economics, McKinsey & Co, Rocket Internet and is the co-founder of Spoqa. Richard Choi has experience with Johns Hopkins Engineering, Cornell Masters, SK Chemical and was the original founder of Spoqa. Jungwon Yu was the Founder of Ensight Media, Inc., Yahoo!Korea, Naver, Samsung SDS and many more high profile projects. All-star team here. Big positive.
  • Competitors Are Going to Find It Hard to Compete Quickly. The foundations that Carry is built on are pretty much impossible to replicate just due to the unique situation they’re in. Being backed Spoqa gives them an advantage that nobody else will have. 7 Years of experience, 10,000 Partner stores, 15 Million Customers, $1 Billion In transactions, the list goes on and on. Spoqas key Partnerships & Clients include companies such as Facebook, Line, Kakao, Nike and many more. Carry is in safe hands here.

Concerns

  • At the Time of Writing (June 7th, 2018), the Github for Carry is pretty quiet. Right now we’ve only got a token sale contract available to view. For a Project that is honestly very exciting with such huge potential, It’d Be Great to be able to follow along to see how the team are progressing. It is completely possible that the Team are protecting their code from Competitors by developing privately before their ICO. Not a huge concern but something to keep an eye On. No doubt we’ll see a public Github somewhere down the line.
  • The biggest concern we have with this type of business model is the speed of deployment and the rate of adoption. So often we see business models like this fail simply due to the team taking far to long to deploy their technology and get it into the hands of merchants and users. Luckily for Carry they already have some strong foundations to work with. “The Carry Protocol is operated by the co-founders of Spoqa, South Korea’s largest brick-and-mortar rewards platform. Spoqa already has customer-facing tablets installed in 10,000 stores across Korea, for use with their Dodo Point loyalty service – We are literally set to roll out overnight.” We grabbed that quote straight from the Carry homepage. You can probably tell that this is less of a concern and more of something to keep an eye on. Only time will tell but we’re optimistic with Carry.
  • We actually don’t have any other concerns for the Carry platform at this time. If we were picky we’d have to point out the Roadmap being a little bare in terms of milestones/descriptions but no doubt this will be updated at some point. No big red flags here, just a few general concerns. Obviously the whole “adoption” thing is the biggest concern but that’s more with the business model and less with Carry specifically.
